            On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Concord held Wilson Hunt to minus-nine yards rushing as the Spiders beat Hunt 27-0 at then-Groves Stadium in Winston-Salem for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 3-A football championship.

            On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Howard West of Reagan High School in Pfafftown earned his 700th career coaching victory as his Reagan's men's basketball team downed Lexington 67-55. West has coached for 40 years and is the third North Carolina high school men's basketball coach to hit the 700-victory plateau, to go with Harvey Reid of Wilson Fike and Butch Smart of Highlands.
