East Chapel Hill Taps New Head Football Coach

CHAPEL HILL— East Chapel Hill High School has named its new head football coach, according to various media reports including the Raleigh News and Observer.

Jon Sherman will be the next head football coach of the Wildcats after serving as an assistant last year at the school. Previous East Chapel Hill head coach Bill Renner resigned at the end of the season.

A native of Naples, FL., Sherman played four years of college football at Methodist University in Fayetteville and graduated in December of 2005 with a degree in political science and a minor in pre-law.

After graduation, he coached wide receivers for two seasons at Fayetteville’s Jack Britt High School, including the 2008 season that saw Britt advance to the NCHSAA state championship game. He then returned to Methodist and coached wide receivers there before heading to East Chapel Hill.
