GRANITE QUARRY— Former East Rowan High School star athlete Danny Misenheimer has been named as head football coach at his alma mater, according to The Salisbury Post.
Misenheimer will be East’s seventh head coach since 2002. This latest change in direction was made after East won a total of three games the last two seasons. Misenheimer replaces Chad Tedder.
Misenheimer was a state champion in the shot put and also won the heavyweight wrestling state championship. He participated in the Shrine Bowl and was twice named the Rowan County Athlete of the Year, in 1999 and 2000.
The 29-year-old Misenheimer went to Appalachian State on track and wrestling scholarships and later graduated from Catawba College. He was the defensive coordinator at East in 2009 and then switched to the same job on the offensive side in 2010.
