A former Clayton High School baseball star has set a new record for the Tampa Bay Rays organization, according to a report in the Raleigh News and Observer.
Archer recently set a record for most strikeouts in a single season by a Rays’ pitcher, moving past the mark of 240 set in the 2007 season by Scott Kazmir.
Archer, who made the American League All-Star team earlier in the summer, was ranked third in strikeouts among all Major League Baseball pitchers last week at 243. He had a 12-12 record within a 2.95 earned run average after his last start.
Congratulations to Chris Archer!
