Former Clayton High School baseball star Chris Archer is having a phenomenal year with the Tampa Bay Rays, and it has obviously been noticed.
Archer has been named to the American League all-star team and will play against the National League in Cincinnati in the midsummer classic.
Archer is 9-5 as a starting pitcher this season with a scant 2.18 earned run average and has struck out 141 batters in 115.2 innings pitched. He is in his fourth year with the Rays and posted a 10-9 record last year.
We congratulate a former North Carolina High School Athletic Association athlete earning this prestigious recognition!
