RALEIGH– Former Enloe High School basketball coach Preston McClain died earlier this week at the age of 75, according to a report in the Raleigh News and Observer.

         A native of Statesville, he came to Raleigh to attend Shaw University and coached at the junior high level for several years before moving to the high school level.

         His teams were known for their relentless pressing defense. McClain’s last year of coaching at Enloe was 1990.
