Hendersonville Names Stanley As New Head Volleyball Coach

HENDERSONVILLE— A familiar name will fill the role as head volleyball coach at Hendersonville High School, according to the Hendersonville Times-News.

Former West Henderson High School standout Brooke Stanley is the new  Hendersonville coach. She is the daughter of long-time West Henderson coach and NCHSAA Hall of Fame member Jan Stanley.

Brooke will take over the post from Shelly Gross, who coached the Hendersonville volleyball program for three years. The Bearcats were 19-6 a year ago.

Stanley is a 2007 graduate of West Henderson and has just recently graduated from the University of Albany, where she was a setter on that Division I volleyball team. She also coached some club volleyball teams while in college.

In fact, Stanley is still in New York, so according to the newspaper principal Bobby Wilkins introduced the new coach to her team via FaceTime on an iPad.

Stanley’s sister, Tiffany Lowrance, is the head coach at West Henderson— and West opens the season in August against Hendersonville.  Jan Stanley said she wasn’t sure she could watch her two daughters coach against one another, and has indicated to her daughters she may go to the beach during that time and somebody can call her with the results.
