ROCKY MOUNT— Charles Alston, a media representative and well known as Rocky Mount High School’s expert on athletic history, died unexpectedly on Monday.

Alston, age 54, was a 1976 graduate of Rocky Mount and graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan College in 1983.

He had been involved in high school athletics in some way for the past four decades. Most recently he had been helping to run the northcarolina.ihigh.com web site and covered a number of state championships on its behalf.

Charles had also done voluminous research on Rocky Mount athletic history.
