Jacksonville Taps Basketball Coaches

JACKSONVILLE— Jacksonville High School has named its new varsity basketball coaches for both the men’s and women’s programs, according to reports in the Jacksonville Daily News.

Monique Gidrey will be the new women’s head coach after serving for two years as an assistant under Bernie Poole, who has retired. She had previously spent 10 years at White Oak in Onslow County, either as an assistant or as the head coach.

Gidrey is a graduate of Jacksonville High and Fayetteville State University.

James Jordan will assume the head coaching duties for the Cardinals’ men’s team. He is a teacher at an elementary school in the system and was an assistant coach last year under head coach Mike Ark. Ark moved back to his home state of Ohio earlier in the summer after six years at Jacksonville.

Jordan is a graduate of Southwest Onslow High and has been a head coach at the middle school level.
