GASTONIA– Jake Eccles has been named the new athletic director at Ashbrook High School, according to various media reports including the Gaston Gazette and the Charlotte Observer.

       Eccles takes over for Chad Duncan, who has moved to the central office as the county athletic director.

       Eccles, 37 years of age, is an Ashbrook graduate who has spent his entire teaching and coaching career at the school. He played three sports at Ashbrook, graduating in 1996, and is a graduate of UNC Charlotte with a degree in applied mathematics.

       He has served as wrestling coach for 11 years and was also part of the 2002 state championship football coaching staff.
