Jeremy Thompson will be assuming the duties as athletic director at Middle Creek High School, according to a report in The Cary News.

Thompson, who is currently the Middle Creek baseball coach and led his team to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 4-A baseball championship in 2012, will take over for Lewis Owens. Owens had announced earlier that he was resigning as athletic director at the end of this academic year.

Thompson has coached baseball at Middle Creek for the last seven years and had been an assistant coach at both Oxford Webb and Lee County. He will relinquish his baseball duties when he becomes athletic director.
