Magazine Has Distinctly NCHSAA Flavor

The January 2013 edition of the national magazine High School Today, published by the National Federation of State High School Associations, has a distinctly North Carolina flavor.

The magazine contains a feature story about the NCHSAA’s Student Services program and many of the offerings available to the Association’s member schools. The story discusses core programs such as the Coach/Captain Retreat, the Student Athlete Summer Institutes, and the DREAM (Daring to Role Model Excellence as Athletic Mentors) Teams, part of the Coach Mentor Training Program.

Mark Dreibelbis, assistant commissioner of the NCHSAA and supervisor of officials, oversees the program.

There is also a story featuring North Carolina’s own Phil Ford, who was a basketball and baseball star at Rocky Mount Senior High School and went on to greatness in basketball at the University of North Carolina.

Ford was inducted last year into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
