Mountain Island Charter Running Back Has Huge Game

MOUNT HOLLY—A Mountain Island Charter running back had a huge game on Friday night to earn a performance listing in the North Carolina High School Record Book.

Aapri Washington, Jr., broke away for some big runs as he helped Mountain Island get past Hickory Grove Christian 48-14 in action at the Mountain Island Charter stadium.

Washington reportedly set a Gaston County single-game rushing record with 402 yards in just 14 carries and rambled for four touchdowns.  His scoring runs came on bursts of 91, 85, 63 and nine yards.

The performance is one of 36 recorded in the record book for single game rushing of 400 yards or more.

We congratulate Aapri Washington, Jr., and we appreciate Mountain Island Charter’s documentation and reporting of the information for inclusion in the Record Book.
