“Names In The Book”

Jennifer Wiker- South Mecklenburg (2004-07)

In the history of women’s volleyball in the NCHSAA, one of the names highlighting the record book is South Mecklenburg’s Jennifer Wiker. 

A four-year standout for the Sabres, the 2008 graduate had a record-breaking senior year. Currently Wiker is the current record-holder for most aces in a single match (22), number of kills per match (42), and season average of kills per match (19.87). Finally, the Charlotte native drilled home 457 kills- ranking second all-time.

For her outstanding senior campaign in the fall of 2007, Wiker earned first-team All-conference and All-Region, First-Team All-Charlotte Observer and was tabbed the Charlotte Weekly Volleyball Player of the Year and was also recognized as South Mecklenburg’s Female Athlete of the year.

Her athletic achievements earned her a scholarship to Virginia Tech. After redshirting her first year on campus, she has accumulated 464 kills in 203 matches as an outside hitter. In 2010, Wiker was named to the 2010 All-Academic Team.
