NAMES IN THE BOOK
Tyler Lewis- Albemarle (2000-03)
Albemarle’s Tyler Lewis was one of the most productive kickers in the history of high school football.
The beneficiary of a high octane Albemarle running attack, Lewis had an All-American career for the Bulldogs as he set numerous NCHSAA and national kicking records. His senior year he nailed a 57-yard field goal, which ties for third all-time in the state. Lewis set single-season marks for extra points three times with 112, 106, and 83 respectively. His marks of 112 and 106 are still good enough for first and second nationally as of 2088 and are still NCHSAA records.
Lewis also ranks among the all-time leaders fpr points scored by a kicker. Twice he scored 130 points in a season ranking him first and second in the nation of 2008. In 2001, he booted six field goals and 112 extra points and in 2001 he had eight field goals and 106 extra points.
His career kicking marks are also tops in the country. Lewis holds the NCHSAA and national record with 350 extra points and an astronomical 428 points as a kicker, which are 145 more than the next performer in NCHSAA history.
Tyler Lewis’ record-setting foot left its footprint in the NCHSAA record books and earned his spot as one of the “Names in the Book.”
