NCHSAA set to hold 2016 State Track & Field Championships this weekend
CHAPEL HILL – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association will hold the annual State Championships in both men’s and women’s Track & Field beginning Friday, May 20th with the 1A and 3A Championships and concluding Saturday, May 21st with the 2A and 4A meets. All meets will be held at the Irwin Belk Track at Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro.
The schedule will be the same for both days as the 1A & 3A Championships will be held simultaneously on Friday and 2A and 4A simultaneously on Saturday. Gates will open for spectators and media at 8:30 a.m. and both meets beginning at 10:00 a.m. Individual awards are presented at the conclusion of each event with team awards presented at the end of the meet. Admission to the dual meet is $10 for the day.
The top four finishers in each event, including relays, at the regionals qualify for the state meet. Substitutions are not allowed except in the relay events and only participants qualifying through the regional meets are allowed to compete.
