WILMINGTON— The new women’s basketball coach at Hoggard High School is a native of Senegal who may be familiar to basketball fans, according to The Wilmington Star News.

Boubacar Aw, who is from Senegal and played at East Columbus High School before his collegiate playing career at Georgetown University, has taken a position at the Wilmington school. Aw played for the Hoyas from 1994-98 and also played internationally for several years.

He will teach Spanish at Hoggard. He has been a substitute teacher in the Pender County system and has previously coached basketball at Cape Fear Academy.

Aw is also helping out with football at Hoggard despite his lack of experience in that particular sport.
