SALISBURY PLAYERS PUT NAMES IN RECORD BOOK FOR SOCCER
SALISBURY—Salisbury High School had a great men’s soccer team this year, as the Hornets won the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 2-A championship with a 2-1 triumph over First Flight.
The Hornets also have a couple of players whose performances have earned them listing in the NCHSAA Record book.
Bobby Cardelle, who had a goal in the championship match and was named the Most Valuable Player of the final, ended his senior season with 45 goals, which qualifies for the single-season list.
Cardelle ended his Hornet career with 105 goals to make the career list. There have been 34 players documented in NCHSAA soccer history to score at least 102 goals for their careers.
Zack Sukkasem of Salisbury made the single-season assist list by recording 32.
