WAKE FOREST— Mike Joyner has been named as the new athletic director at Wake Forest High School, according to the Raleigh News and Observer.

He will succeed Deran Coe, who resigned the athletic director role at Wake Forest-Rolesville to become the Wake County Schools senior administrator for athletics. Wake Forest-Rolesville will become Wake Forest High with the opening of Rolesville High this fall.

Joyner is a former Smithfield-Selma baseball coach and athletic director. He was athletic director at SSS from 2004 through ’12 and was baseball coach there for 16 seasons. He has spent the 2012-13 academic year as baseball coach and assistant football coach at Hobbton.

Joyner will assume his new duties on June 10.
