CHAPEL HILL— Hanna Malik from Athens Drive High School and Breon Pass from Reidsville High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Malik, a senior on the Athens Drive Women’s Basketball team, recorded her 1,500th career point last week as the Jaguars defeated Green Hope 59-51. Malik scored 21 points to eclipse the milestone while adding 11 rebounds in the winning effort. Athens Drive currently sits at 10-4 on the season.
Pass led the Rams’ Men’s Basketball team to a 102-94 victory over Carrboro on Friday. The junior recorded 32 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds and 5 steals while knocking down 5 of 7 three-point attempts. With the win, Reidsville improved to 7-2 on the season.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
