Indya Nivar from Apex Friendship High School and Terence Harcum from Granville Central High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Nivar, a sophomore on the Apex Friendship women’s basketball team, averaged 29.6 points and 12 rebounds through the first three rounds of the NCHSAA 4A Women’s Basketball Championships. Indya’s week high performance came in a 2nd Round win over Jack Britt, where she recorded 34 points and 17 rebounds. Apex Friendship will take on Millbrook in the 4th Round.
Harcum, a junior on the Granville Central basketball team, averaged 31.3 points, 11 rebounds, and 7.6 assists through the first three rounds of the NCHSAA 1A Men’s Basketball Championships. Harcum recorded a triple-double in the 1st Round with 25 points, ten rebounds, and 11 assists in a win over West Columbus. Granville Central will take on North Edgecombe in the 4th Round.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
