NEWTON– Newton-Conover High School has named a new head football coach, according to media reports including one in the Newton Observer-News-Enterprise.

Brint Russell will take over as the head coach of the Red Devil football program. The 33-year-old Russell has coached the last three seasons at Heritage High School in Maryville, Tennessee.

Russell will replace Nick Bazzle, the veteran head coach who left to become the head coach at Alexander Central. 

The Newton-Conover City Schools Board of Education has approved the hiring.
