DINWIDDIE HEADED TO NORTH HENDERSON AFTER WAKEFIELD STINT
HENDERSONVILLE— North Henderson High School has named Jason Dinwiddie as its new head football coach, according to the Hendersonville Daily News.
Dinwiddie had recently resigned as the head football coach Wakefield High in Raleigh.
Dinwiddie, 35, replaces Doug Justice, who resigned at the end of the 2011 football season to take the assistant principal/athletic director position at East Henderson, his alma mater. The announcement of the new head football coach at North ended a two-month long process in which the school had to pick between more than 70 applicants from all over the country.
The Wolverines went 10-2 this season after going 10-3 the year before. He spent five years as head coach at Wakefield, first taking the position in 2004 when Steve Rivers resigned. When Rivers returned the following year, Dinwiddie stepped down to be his assistant, running the defense.
Record setting quarterback Connor Mitch, who threw for more than 3,800 yards during the year, helped to lead this year’s Wakefield team.
Dinwiddie was then an assistant under Chip Williams before taking the head coaching position again in 2008 when Williams left for Scotland County. Dinwiddie had an overall record of 37-23 in five years at the helm.
