Olympic Names Keith Wilkes As New Head Football Coach

CHARLOTTE—Olympic High School has announced that Keith Wilkes will be its new head football coach.

Wilkes coached at Charlotte Vance in 2012 and ’13 and before that had helped build Winston-Salem Carver into a football power.  He won a couple of NCHSAA state championships at Carver and 11 conference championships during his tenure at the Winston-Salem school, from 1992 through 2007.

Wilkes also spent three years coaching at Shiloh High School in Snellsville, Ga., after leaving Carver.

Wilkes will replace Barry Shuford, a former football standout at Lenoir-Rhyne who coached at Olympic from 2007 through the ’13 season before resigning in December.
