Outstanding Performances Highlight Dixon-croatan Game

DIXON—A couple of phenomenal individual performances highlighted a wild high school football game at Dixon on October 11.

Dixon outlasted Croatan 62-57 in a high scoring East Central 2-A Conference contest that featured both great rushing and passing performances. The two teams combined for almost 1,200 yards in total offense, with Dixon rolling up 660 yards.

Running back Malik Simmons led the way for Dixon with 350 yards rushing in 30 carries and three touchdowns, while Croatan countered with quarterback Andrew Colburn throwing for 468 yards and six scores. Colburn had scoring tosses of 33, 18, 16, five, 60 and 29 yards.

The 468 yards passing in a single game is in the top 15 of passing performances, with the state record of 667 yards set by Connor Mitch of Wakefield during the 2012 season.
