PINECREST GOLFER HAS GREAT 18-HOLE SCORE,WILL BE LISTED IN NCHSAA RECORD BOOK

A Pinecrest High School golfer has put together a record 18-hole round for regular season women’s golf and will be listed in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Record Book.

Gabby Weiss of Pinecrest, who has committed to continue her career at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, fired an eight-under par 64 at Bayonet at Puppy Creek on Monday. Par was 72 and the course was set up at just over 5,000 yards.

Weiss had two eagles and five birdies during the Southeastern Conference match.

The previous low for an 18-hole regular season match was 66, which had been reported for the Record Book on three occasions. The most recent was a 66 by Ashley Thompson of Pisgah in a Western North Carolina Athletic Conference match on October 3, 2012, at Lake Junaluska Golf Club. The par there was 69 and the layout of the course covered 4800 yards.

Pinecrest had reported the achievement and The Pilot newspaper in Moore County featured a story about Weiss as well.
