Pisgah Women’s Golfer Has Great Round

CANTON— Pisgah High School golfer Ashley Thompson recently had a phenomenal round that is one of the best ever recorded in women’s non-state tournament play, based on a report in the Asheville Citizen-Times.

Thompson shot a 66 in a regular season Western North Carolina Athletic Conference match at the Lake Junaluska Golf Club on October 3, which would be the third time a recorded round of 66 in regular season play has been reported to the NCHSAA. Par was 69, with course was set approximately 4,700 yards.

Her 29 on the back nine would be the lowest nine-hole score ever recorded in a regular season match, with the previous standard a 30 shot by Allison Emrey of Ardrey Kell on October 20, 2010, against Porter Ridge in a match at Providence Country Club in Charlotte. Thompson was actually five under par on the back nine.

Congratulations to Pisgah golfer Ashley Thompson and coach Rick Constance, who also serves as the pro at the Lake Junaluska Golf Club.
