Each week an athlete in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association is selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthroCarolina Performer of the Week for week fourteen of NCHSAA competition goes to Audrey Wolk of East Chapel Hill High School and Tyler Mason of Mount Airy High School.
Wolk a Junior on the East Chapel Hill Swim team led her team with four 1st place finishes! In her two individual events, Audrey placed 1st with a time of 2:11:75 in the 200 IM and a time of 1:09:39 in the 100 Breast. She led each of her relay teams to finish first in the 200 Medley and in the 400 Freestyle. Audrey is a great swimmer but an even better teammate – as she is always encouraging other swimmers during meets and does her best to make sure everyone on her team feels valued and welcomed into the Wildcat family!
Mason a Junior Running Back on the Mount Airy Granite Bears lead them to victory Friday night against Draughn High School in the 1A West Regional Championship. Mason rushed for a career high 290 yards on 17 carries and scored 5 touchdowns. He also got it done on the defense side of the ball, by intercepting a pass. During his Junior year Mason has rushed for 46 touchdowns and 2,153 yards. The Mount Airy Granite Bears will play Tarboro for the 1A State Championship Saturday at 3pm in Carter Finley Stadium.
Congratulations to Audrey Wolk of East Chapel Hill High School and Tyler Mason of Mount Airy High School on an outstanding performance last week!!
