Each week an athlete in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association is selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthroCarolina Performer of the Week for week twenty-three of NCHSAA competition goes to Cassidy Geddes of Newton-Conover High School and Dominic Payne of Trinity High School.
Cassidy Geddes had an amazing week in the South Fork Conference Tournament for the Lady Red Devils. She averaged 25 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, and 6 assists per game. Her 34 point performance in the championship game gave Newton-Conover the win over East Burke with the final score of 58-45. Cassidy’s role as a distributor, scorer and a defensive presence was monumental in the championship run, and now it’s onto the playoffs!
Dominic Payne was on a tear for Trinity High School in their conference tournament. Even while battling through injuries, Trinity won their first two games and fell short in the final. Dominic was posting superstar numbers the entire week though, averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists. His triple double performance in the final of 25, 10 and 10 will always be remembered and this junior will surely be back to secure the conference tournament chip next year!
Congratulations to Cassidy Geddes of Newton-Conover High School and Dominic Payne of Trinity High School on an outstanding performance last week!!
