Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthroCarolina Performers of the Week for week three of NCHSAA competition go to Paige Sarver of South Iredell High School and Angus Weaver of Polk County high School.
Sarver a Junior on the South Iredell High School Tennis Team who plays court #2 singles and #1 doubles with her partner Preston Jones. In her singles match against East Lincoln High School, Paige won her match 6-3, 6-4 to improve to 6-2 this season. In their doubles match Paige and Preston went down 2-5 before rallying to win 9-8 (8-6 tiebreaker) to improve to 6-1 on the season. Paige has led South Iredell to a 7 and 1 record to start the season.
Weaver a Senior on the Polk County Football Team continues to dominate on both sides of the ball. This week weaver had 22 carries for 244 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also caught 1 pass for 24 yards to go along with his rushing numbers. On defense, Weaver came up huge with 17 tackles and a fumble recovery. Polk County went on to win the game 41-20 behind Weaver’s strong performance.
