Randleman, Providence Each Force Third Game in Baseball Championship Series

2-A BASEBALL GAME TWO

RANDLEMAN EXPLODES FOR 11-1 WIN TO EVEN 2-A SERIES

    RALEIGH—   Randleman exploded for nine runs in the fifth and scored an 11-1 victory over South Granville  in the second game of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 2-A baseball championship series at Doak Field at Dail Park on the campus of N.C. State University.
    The Randleman win, shortened by the 10-run rule,  evened the series at a game apiece, as South Granville rolled to a 9-2 win the opening game of the series Friday night.
    Game three will get underway at 5 p.m.
    Trevor Clemons had two hits in three at bats and drove home a pair of runs for the winners.   Caleb Webster had two hits, including a run scoring triple in the two-run Tiger third, and Tanner Routh also had two hits.
    Zac Kemp, who allowed South Granville only two hits, was the winning pitcher while Justin Bullock was the loser.   
    Randleman is in the NCHSAA baseball championships for the third time in the last five years, while South Granville is in the finals for the first time since 1982.  Randleman moved  to 27-5 overall while South Granville is now 24-3.

4-A BASEBALL GAME TWO

PROVIDENCE EVENS 4-A SERIES WITH 10-0 VICTORY
        ZEBULON— Providence exploded for four runs in the opening inning and never looked back as the Panthers rolled over Raleigh Millbrook 10-0 on Saturday in game two of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 4-A baseball championship series at Five County Stadium.
         The win by Providence, called in the fifth by the 10-run rule, sets up the third and decisive tonight at eight o’clock.  Millbrook won the opener on Friday night 4-3.
         Austin Leonard tossed a two-hit shutout to get the win for Providence, while Alex Royalty was charged with the loss. 
         Tucker Jones had three hits in three trips for the Panthers, while Satchel Jerzembeck was two for three at the plate with three runs batted in for Providence and Logan Darden doubled twice.     
         Millbrook is making its first visit to the NCHSAA baseball championship series and has been a great playoff story, as the Wildcats were the 21st seed in the Eastern bracket. Millbrook is 21-11 overall while Providence, in its third trip to the championship series, improved to 30-4.
         The Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance serves as a host city sponsor for the championship.
