Southwest Guilford Public Address Announcer Earns National Honor

GLADSTONE, MO– Tom Parker, public address announcer for Southwest Guilford High School athletics, has received a prestigious national award.

Parker has been named the 2014-15 Bob Sheppard High School P.A. Announcer of the Year by the National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers (NASPAA).  Bob Sheppard was the stadium announcer for the New York Yankees for 57 years, and is considered to be the best sports P.A. announcer ever.

“Tom Parker is a true professional and takes his announcing very seriously,” commented Brindon Christman, Southwest Guilford’s director of athletics.  “He is respectful and professional, and receives many compliments from our schools about how he makes the visiting team feel when it comes to Southwest Guilford.  He is our football and baseball P.A. announcer.  Tom has been announcing for 19 years.  We are very lucky to have him as our P.A. announcer.”

“The NASPAA is proud to name Tom Parker the 2014-15 Bob Sheppard High School P.A. Announcer of the Year Award recipient,” remarked Brad Rumble, NASPAA Executive Director.  “The Award is predicated on the high professional P.A. announcing standard of Mr. Sheppard, which Tom exhibits.  He is truly a class act.”

The Bob Sheppard P.A. Announcer of the Year Award is exclusive to the NASPAA and is a membership benefit.
