STUDENTS FROM CUTHBERTSON & ROCKINGHAM COUNTY EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Madeline Hill from Cuthbertson High School and Anthony Sedeno from Rockingham County High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Hill, a sophomore on the women’s cross country team, won the Union County championship beating 119 girls and finishing the course in 18 minutes, 33 seconds. Her county championship came just five days after defeating 219 girls from 5 states in the Hare & Hounds Invitational in Charlotte. She is currently ranked #2 in the state in cross country.

Sedeno, a junior on the Rockingham County football team, rushed for 171 yards and 2 touchdowns as they knocked off cross-county rival McMichael. Sedeno also ran back a kickoff 81 yards for a score as he led the Cougars to a 28-7 victory.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in early May. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
