STUDENTS FROM ENKA & PANTHER CREEK EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Emily Carver from Enka High School and Justin McKoy from Panther Creek High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators. 

Carver, a sophomore from the Enka women’s basketball team helped lead the team to three wins last week and lifted the team’s MaxPreps ranking to the top spot in 3A. She led the team in scoring with a 32.7 points per game average, picking up 8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3 steals per game as well. Carver shot 63.9% from the floor during the three game span as well.

McKoy, a senior on the Catamount men’s basketball team, helped the squad to wins over Middle Creek and Leesville Road last week. He averaged 31 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 assists in the pair of games. He had 35 points in the win over Middle Creek, helping lead the team to a 9-1 start to the season. He is committed to Penn State to continue his educational and hoops career next year.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
