STUDENTS FROM NASH CENTRAL, CARRBORO EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Josh Mullins of Nash Central High School and Deja Tucker of Carrboro High School have been named winners of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards, powered by Time Warner Cable Sports Channel with Jersey Mike’s Subs®.

Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Mullins is averaging 23.5 points per game for the Bulldogs this season and tossed in an impressive 39 points in Nash Central’s 84-76 conference win over rival Northern Nash last week. The senior shooting guard also grabbed 6 rebounds, recorded 4 assists and had 3 steals as the Nash Central team advanced to a 3-0 conference record and 9-7 overall.

Tucker, a sophomore guard for the Carrboro Jaguars, scored 31 points last Tuesday as they beat Graham High School, 54-42. In addition, she had 4 assists, 6 steals and 3 rebounds to round out her performance. This conference game marked the sixth time during the 2015-16 season that Miss Tucker has been named the Player of the Game for the Jaguars, according to Maxpreps stats.

TWC SportsChannel typically announces the winners of the awards during its Tuesday night Sports Night show and will recognize the winners throughout the week. Weekly recipients will also be recognized via Twitter and Facebook.
