STUDENTS FROM OCRACOKE, CAMDEN COUNTY EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Sydney Austin of Ocracoke High School and Zach Robeson of Camden County High School have been named winners of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards, powered by Time Warner Cable Sports Channel with Jersey Mike’s Subs®.

Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Austin scored 37 points, had 3 assists and 13 rebounds as Ocracoke pulled out the 66-64 win over Manteo High School last Friday in conference play.

The Ocracoke junior was recently named Region 3 High School Player of the Week for December 8 – 13, 2015 by MaxPreps and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). She also received accolades as the girls’ MVP in an area Holiday Tournament.

Robeson, a junior honor student at Camden County, hit seven 3-point shots in a decisive 70-56 win last week over Ocracoke High School, scoring 36 points of the team’s points. In a three-game week, he amassed 74 points for the Bruins and currently is leading the team in points scored this season with 18.8 points per game.

TWC Sports Channel typically announces the winners of the awards during its Tuesday night SportsNight show and will recognize the winners throughout the week. Weekly recipients will also be recognized via Twitter and Facebook.
