A remarkable event occurred on Monday in a high school cross country race, according to an amazing report in The Asheville Citizen-Times.

     Connor Callihan, a junior on the T.C. Roberson High School men's cross country team, fell a few feet from the finish line in the race.  That is not altogether unusual as runners spend their last ounce of energy trying to finish.

     In Callihan's case, though, he had broken his leg in three places– and then proceeded to crawl across the finish line because, as he said, "I had to finish for my team."

     Read the account in the Asheville paper; Callihan is now recovering from surgery on Tuesday.
