Union Academy Women’s Soccer Player Earns Spots In Record Book

MONROE—A Union Academy women’s soccer player has earned a couple of spots in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Record Book.

Goalkeeper Alivia McKelvy had a tremendous year for Union Academy, recording 19 consecutive shutouts for the Cardinals. The 19 consecutive shutouts by a keeper tied the existing state record, previously achieved by High Point Central’s Mandi Tinsley in 19980 and Katy Horner of Northeast Guilford in 2002.

McKelvy’s 19 shutouts in a season earned a performance listing, and tied for seventh on the all-time single season list.

The team’s 19 consecutive shutouts is tied for second on the team list, with the state record 21 by High Point Central in 1998.

Our thanks to coach Vic Johnson of Union Academy for reporting the achievements and providing documentation.
