CHAPEL HILL— Emmagrace Cobb from Cornerstone Charter Academy and Ian Harrison from Panther Creek High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Cobb, a senior on the Cornerstone Volleyball Team led the Cardinals to a 3-0 record for the week including a Conference Tournament Championship and First Round State Playoff win. In 3 matches, Cobb recorded 53 kills, 6 blocks, 7 aces, and 12 digs.
Harrison, a senior on the Panther Creek Cross Country Team won the Tri-8 Conference Meet at Wake Med with a time of 15:28. Harrison was named the Conference Runner of the Year and his season-best time of 15:09 currently ranks as the second-best 5000 m time in North Carolina.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 pm through the online form that can be found here.
