Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthoCarolina Performers of the Week for week 15 of NCHSAA competition are Soifa Dorantes from the Highland School of Technology and Will Rauers from Franklin High School.
Dorantes, a swimmer for the Rams, won two individual and two relay events in a meet last week. She took first place in the 100 M backstroke and 100 M Fly as well as swimming the anchor leg on both the 200 M Medley and 400 M Free teams that also took first. She scored 27 points in the meet and has scored 348 so far this season.
Rauers, a freshman guard for the Panthers, scored 48 points and had 14 steals and 18 rebounds in three wins last week. In the December 2, win over Swain County, Rauers scored 29 points to go along with 10 steals, four rebounds and an assist.
