Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthoCarolina Performers of the Week for week 17 of NCHSAA competition are Amelia Lawrence from Union Academy and Bray Trivette from North Iredell.
Lawrence, a junior swimmer for Union Academy, helped her team to a first place finish in a five-team meet. She won the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke and was a part of the 200 Medley Relay team that also took first. She has automatically qualified for Regional in 10 events.
Trivette, a junior wrestler for North Iredell, went 5-0 last week with five pins including his 100th career win. He was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the Statesville Classic last weekend.
