WEEK 19 | 2023-24 ORTHOCAROLINA PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media and school administrators for their outstanding performance.

The OrthoCarolina Performers of the Week for week 19 of NCHSAA competition are Kynley Simerson from West Davidson and Taj-Boone Chambers from Wakefield.

Simerson, a senior swimmer for the Dragons, set a new person record in the 100 Backstroke last week as she posted a time of 1:10.49. That satisfies the automatic qualification mark for the NCHSAA Regional Champions and was five seconds faster than her average this season.

Chambers, a senior shooting guard for the Wolverines, had a pair of 20-point games last week as he scored 21 at Athens Drive and 20 at home against Rolesville. He also added 12 rebounds and four steals last week. Wakefield is now 13-2 on the season.

Weekly recipients of the Performance of the Week award powered by OrthoCarolina will be recognized on the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Website and our Social Media pages. Get the orthopedic care you need in a way that works best for you: OrthoCarolina, your care, your way.
