WEEK 20 | Students from Hoggard and Northwood Earn Performance of the Week Awards

CHAPEL HILL— Emma Johnson from Hoggard High School and Tyler Tracy from Northwood High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators. 

Johnson, a junior on the Hoggard swim team won the 100-yard breaststroke, the 200-yard individual medley, and was on the first-place 200-yard medley relay team as the Vikings won the MidEastern Conference Championships on Friday.  Emma has qualified for the 4A East NCHSAA Regional Championships in both individual events and as a member of the relay team.      

Tracy, a freshman on the Northwood wrestling team, had a strong showing at the Wildcat Invitational at West Johnston High School.  Tyler beat the 4A 8th ranked and the 3A 7th ranked wrestlers to improve to 34-0 on the season.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
