Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthoCarolina Performers of the Week for week 21 of NCHSAA competition are Jalia Borden from Valor Preparatory Academy and Jacob Meuser from North Davidson.
Borden, a junior women’s basketball player for the Owls, scored 33 points and recorded 18 steals which is the second most in a NCHSAA women’s basketball game in NCHSAA history. She also grabbed six rebounds and had three assists as well in their 70-17 win over Queen’s Grant.
Meuser, a senior swimmer for the Black Knights, finished first in the Mid Piedmont Conference Championship in both his individual events. He swam a 23.22 in the 50 Free, 53.28 in the 100 Free. Also, Meuser was a part of the 200 Medley Relay team that finished first with a time of 1:53.28 as well as the 400 Free Relay which finished second with a time of 3:44.12 where Jake swam a personal best of 52.84.
