Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthoCarolina Performers of the Week for week 34 of NCHSAA competition are Connor Kruse from Orange High School and Lilly Fulghum from North Duplin.
Kruse, a senior lacrosse player for the Panthers, can’t stop breaking records. In Orange’s final regular season game Connor tallied five points which solidified him as the all-time North Carolina scoring leader at 505 career points according to MaxPreps. Earlier in the year, he tied the national assists record with 16 in one game and set a new single-season assist record with 107. He leads the nation in points and assists and went on to break his own single-season points record at 178.
Fulghum, a sophomore softball player for the Rebels, led her team to an important 9-0 win over Rosewood with an outstanding performance at the plate and on the mound. Lilly went 2-for-2 with two walks, a homerun and four RBIs. On the mound she threw a complete game shutout giving her eight wins on the season with an ERA of just 0.62.
