The Stanly News and Press has reported that veteran coach and athletic director Rudi Heath has resigned from West Stanly High School to get back into active coaching.

Heath, who has been in the Stanly County system for 29 years and formerly was the head men’s basketball coach at West Stanly for 13 seasons, has accepted a position at Piedmont High School in Union County. The position is subject to the approval of the Union County Board of Education in August. He has also served as the athletic director at West Stanly.

Heath coached at North Stanly for 16 seasons before going to West.
