WEST CRAVEN WILL HAVE NEW FOOTBALL COACH
VANCEBORO— Kevin Yost has been dismissed from his duties as head football coach at West Craven High School, according to a report in the New Bern Sun Journal.
Yost compiled a 16-19 record, including a 6-16 mark over the past two seasons. The Eagles were 3-8 this season and were tied for sixth place in the Coastal Conference. In the meantime, Yost will remain a teacher at West Craven.
Yost, an Ohio native, guided the Eagles to the third round of the state playoffs in his first season, where they lost to Eastern Alamance, 35-7. He accepted his first head coaching job in 2009, replaced West Craven Hall of Fame coach Clay Jordan. Yost was an offensive assistant in 2008 as West Craven made its first-ever appearance in a state championship game. The Eagles lost to West Rowan, 35-7, in the 3-A title game.
Before arriving at West Craven, Yost spent four years as an assistant coach at North Raleigh Christian Academy.
