West Henderson To Honor Anniversary Of NCHSAA Championship


WEST HENDERSON TO HONOR ANNIVERSARY OF STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

HENDERSONVILLE – West Henderson High School will recognize the 20th anniversary of a North Carolina High School Athletic Association state baseball championship, according to the Hendersonville Times-News.

West Henderson won the state 3-A baseball championship in 1992, sweeping Southern Alamance in two straight games by scores of 3-0 and 6-4. Jim Hyatt was in his second year as baseball coach at West and went on to coach for 19 seasons, until 2009. Anthony Lindsey was named as the Most Valuable Player in the championship series.

The 1992 state championship team will be honored by West Henderson on Friday. The ceremony will take place prior to West Henderson’s home game against rival North Henderson, with the game scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
