STATESVILLE– A West Iredell High School pitcher fired a perfect game in baseball action on Tuesday.

Luke Elliott of West put his name in the NCHSAA record books with his performance, pitching a seven-inning 7-0 victory over Statesville.

Elliott struck out 10 while keeping any Greyhound batter from reaching base.

Although a perfect game is exceedingly rare, there have been over 50 documented and recorded in the NCHSAA record book.
