STUDENTS FROM PINECREST & FRED T. FOARD EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Carmen Alder from Pinecrest High School and Corey Siemer from Fred T. Foard High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Alder, a sophomore on the Pinecrest women’s cross country team, captured the 4A Women’s Cross Country Individual Championship over the weekend. Alder finished the course in 17:50.64 and had the fastest time of any woman in the NCHSAA Championships on Saturday. Her time ranked third all-time for NCHSAA State Championship Races held at Ivey Redmon Park in Kernersville.

Siemer, a junior at Fred T. Foard on the football team, helped lead his team to a 41-14 victory over West Iredell. He rushed for 410 yards on 35 carries while racking up six touchdowns on the night. Siemer has now rushed for more than 3,000 yards in his varsity career.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in late April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
